The process of decision making involves applying scientific logic, however as is well known - medicine is an art and a science. After years of practicing as a Doctor, my objective is to reach unique and creative solutions to really help someone get to the life they seek to experience and live. Technically, this could be described as "motivational interviewing". It's an approach deliberately with much regard to emotion along the way. I value the influence of the limbic system in each of our brains. Most peoples decisions are made on emotion and thereafter justified with logic. I am interested in helping a patient and coaching client connect with their deeper emotions, to acknowledge, accept and understand them, and help leverage those emotions to create strong positive forward momentum.
I also enjoy writing and drawing. I find the arts refreshing in that it encourages originality. I want to inspire people to be original and proud of who they are. A key to success is to find your unique you, and run hard with that. Working with a person one on one, I aim to help them unleash the courage that drives them to highly motivated activity underpinned by boundless stamina. Along these lines, I love the creativity, imagination and myth promoted by art, and naturally gravitate towards it. I intend to produce a series of new works to continue to personally and dramatically express this side of me.
[2020 edit] In partnership with my wife, Nathalie, we created a character named DRATTICUS. HE is the embodiment of our brand, Atticus Health and what it represents in a physical manifestation. Hey - perhaps just a bit of fun, who knows. But my love of my wife, my kids, art, medicine and acknowledgement that art, storytelling and the power of all of that in influencing the world in a positive direction I hope to make manifest. And...I still LOVE comics! In fact, below is an image of my current "Doctor's Bag". You'll notice one sticker is torn - edivence I'm still working hard (I'd like to think).
